Centre for Big Synergy (CBS) has entered into a partnership with Lyca Radio. The partnership brings together the forces of CBS, a Civil Society Organisation of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, and Lyca Radio, one of the most loved and listened Asian radio stations of the UK, to further the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) or the Global Goals.
The UN SDGs are a collection of 17 interlinked global goals, a blue print for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. These goals are the guiding principles of the UN’s 2030 Agenda that envisages “a world of universal respect for human rights and human dignity, the rule of law, justice, equality and non-discrimination”.
Despite the UN’s best efforts, the biggest stakeholder of the UN 2030 Agenda, i.e., ‘us’ or “we the peoples”, as is famously quoted in the opening words of the charter of United Nations, are largely unaware of this Agenda to say the least, let alone understand what we can do to make it possible. It is therefore imperative that more of us are informed about the seventeen UN SDGs, be inspired by the impact of UN SDGs initiatives that have been successfully completed or are underway, and get actively involved in such initiatives to fulfil the UN 2030 Agenda, to benefit us and our future generations. Hence, one of the key responsibilities of CBS is to make the civil society aware of the UN SDGs and inspire them to act on those.
Commenting on the partnership, the CEO and co-founder of the Centre for Big Synergy, Dr. Sourav Roy said, “It gives me great pleasure to announce our media partnership with Lyca Radio. This partnership is a significant step in furthering Centre for Big Synergy’s outreach to the minority Asian community in the UK. Our partnership is testament of Lyca Radio’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (or Global Goals) to help create a fair, sustainable and equitable future for all. Lyca Radio’s wide reach and influence would add to Centre for Big Synergy’s ongoing efforts of generating awareness about the Global Goals amongst the civil society. This would inspire ‘one and all’ to bring positive changes in their own lives, their community, the country, and the world at large.”
Reiterating the significant social, economic and environmental impact the partnership aims to create in the UK, Raj Baddhan, CEO of Lyca Media (owner of Lyca Radio & Lyca Gold Radio) said, “We are thrilled to be partnering up with Centre for Big Synergy on this very important awareness campaign. Lyca Radio is for the community and we hope by working with Centre for Big Synergy, we can amplify the important messages through Lyca Radio and Lyca Gold Radio.”
The partnership is yet another example of an optimal synergy of capabilities, expertise and resources directed towards fulfilling the United Nations 2030 Agenda, positively impacting the planet and its people.
