Raj Baddhan, a highly influential and successful media executive has walked away with an Outstanding Achievement honour at the inaugural Ethnic Media Awards, which were held on Friday at the House of Lords, London.
With over twenty years of broadcast experience, Baddhan was appointed as CEO of Lyca Media in January 2021. He oversees the full management and strategic operations of three key radio stations within the network, which broadcast across London (Lyca Radio, Lyca Gold and Time 107.5FM). Since the launch of Lyca Gold, the station has delivered highest average listening hours per listener than any other UK Asian radio station.
Prior to his appointment at Lyca Media, Baddhan was a Director and presenter at Sabras Radio in Leicester. He also runs the UK’s first and only Asian media and entertainment publication, BizAsiaLive.com.
Upon receiving his award at the event, Baddhan said, “I am honoured to be taking away this award home. Not only is it special as its the first ever Ethnic Media Awards but also as it is something I am being honoured with at the House of Lords. A huge thanks to the organisers for this recognition. A special thanks to my team, our well-wishers including listeners and advertisers that have supported me during my tenure at Lyca Media.”
The event organised by Romail Gulzar from Pukaar Group (owners of Pukaar News), was the first of its kind to celebrate the media talent in the ethnic community, not just South Asians.
A number of dignitaries including politicians, media professionals from the BBC, ITV and other mainstream outlets attended the invite-only event.
