Suneel Darshan reveals Akshay Kumar walked out of ‘Barsaat’ due to wife Twinkle Khanna

Suneel Darshan recently revealed that Akshay Kumar had opted out of the 2005 film ‘Barsaat’ due to personal issues involving his wife, Twinkle Khanna, which led to Bobby Deol replacing him.

Speaking on Friday Talkies, Darshan shared that Akshay was initially cast alongside Priyanka Chopra, and the film was set to be shot in a single schedule. However, five days before filming began, Akshay called for a meeting, and Darshan sensed something was off.

While on his way to meet Akshay, Darshan received a call from Bobby Deol’s manager, expressing interest in working together. Soon after, Akshay backed out of the film due to what Darshan referred to as “blunders,” indicating the actor’s personal struggles. Rumors had emerged about Akshay and Priyanka Chopra, leading to Twinkle Khanna leaving their home temporarily.

Darshan further stated that while Priyanka was simply focused on her career, it was ultimately Akshay’s responsibility to manage the situation, especially given that his wife, a former actress, understood the dynamics of the film industry. The filmmaker clarified that he did not blame Priyanka and emphasised that the men in such situations should be more accountable.
