Filmmaker Raaj Shaandilyaa apologises to Maddock Films for unauthorised use of ‘Stree’ dialogue

Filmmaker Raaj Shaandilyaa has issued a formal apology to Maddock Films for the unauthorized use of a popular dialogue from ‘Stree’ in his latest film, ‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’.

The iconic line, “O Stree kal aana hi tha,” from the 2018 horror-comedy ‘Stree’, which starred Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, has gained significant popularity in meme culture. However, its use in Shaandilyaa’s film was not cleared by the production company Maddock Films.

Shaandilyaa acknowledged the oversight and expressed regret for using both the dialogue and elements from the ‘Stree’ franchise without permission. In his apology, he spoke on behalf of himself and the involved production companies—Super Cassettes Ind. Pvt. Ltd., Balaji Motion Pictures, and Wakaoo Films—recogniing the potential damage this incident could cause to Maddock Films’ brand.
