Raveena Tandon @ 50: Five party numbers featuring the actress

After the film ‘Mohra’ (1994) was released she became known as the ‘mast mast girl’ and it is no surprise as the song cheez badi mast mast became a rage. In fact there were two versions of the song in the film and they both featured the actress. Call it luck or coincidence but this actress has had some very memorable songs picturised on her like ‘kisi disco mein jaaye’ from ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ (1998) and ‘is tarah aashiqui ka’ from ‘Imtihan’ (1994), there are so many that one could name.

Raveena Tandon has shown time and time again that she is an all rounder when it comes to films. No role is too difficult for her to portray and when it comes to performing on a song she will leave the audiences impressed. With Raveena Tandon celebrating her 50th birthday, BizAsiaLive.com has selected five party numbers featuring the actress that are still loved today.

Raveena Tandon and Daler Mehndi

‘Nach Baby Nach Kudi’ from ‘Khauff’ (2000)

There were three surprises in this song one being the famous Punjabi singer Daler Mehndi, secondly the legendary artist Asha Bhosle and of course the starlet of Bollywood Tandon. The three stars were collaborating for the first time together and what a blast it was.

Tandon was dressed in a shalwar kameez but given a modern twist. Her electric blue sequin outfit fit the Punjabi vibes well but also gave her the sparkle required as an item girl.

The song was picturised on both Tandon and Mehndi with a group of backing dancers to accompany them. The song takes place at a party where Tandon and Mehndi can be seen dancing so energetically. The song had everything glamour, lots of energy and the perfect party sounds.

‘Kaale Kaale Baal’ from ‘Ziddi’ (1997)

When the song begins one might not know what to expect but within seconds the beat kicks in and it takes over almost hypnotising the listener. Visually the song begins with Tandon at the top of some stairs making her way to a huge stage. There she is surrounded by a large audience who have come to see her perform and to accompany her on stage are her backing dancers.

Shweta Shetty sung for Tandon and surprisingly her vocals worked very well for Tandon as though she was singing herself. Musically Dilip Sen- Sameer Sen did wonders with this song especially with the use of the violin which you can hear throughout the song.

Tandon always manages to wow the audience with her dance performances especially on the speedy tracks that require swift dance movements. The choreographer did a superb job of utilising the stage well and and making both the backing dancers and Tandon sync perfectly without it looking messy.

Tandon and Govinda in ‘Dulhe Raja’‘Akhiyon Se Goli Maare’ from ‘Dulhe Raja’ (1998)

It was an extremely popular song during the late 90s and the truth is the popularity of this song has never died down. It seems as the years went by it has been loved more and more by people. In 2019 this song was remade for the film ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh’ but it never reached the level of success the original did. It is no surprise though because the original featured the one and only Govinda who is known for the way he dances and his co star Tandon who as a team create magic on screen. They had so many songs that became huge hits and this was one of them.

Sonu Nigam and Jaspinder Narula sung for the actors and Anand-Milind gave the music. Tandon and Govinda’s fans know that the two just seem to work well together even their style of dancing matches one another perfectly. From their expressions to their funky outfits that match each other well they are the perfect team.

Raveena Tandon in ‘Vinashak’

‘Rooba Rooba’ from ‘Vinashak’ (1998)

A captivating song that instantly catches the attention of the listener with its incredible vibes. There are some jungle beat elements used in the song which makes it unique and unlike other songs heard at that time. Kavita Krishnamurthy sang for Tandon and Viju Shah created the music.

Shah is known for the music he makes in his films and this song was no less when it came to creativity and speed. Tandon danced exceptionally well on this song being careful not to miss one beat. There’s one part in the song where Tandon along with many backing dancers can be seen dancing on top of a building and the bit they are dancing around is made out of glass. That would have taken some courage to do for both her and the dancers as it was at such height.

Tandon stood out a lot in this song with her crimped hair, silver outfit and matching accessories. She definitely proved she is a great dancer and no step is too difficult for her.

‘Rabba Rabba’ from ‘Aks’ (2001)

This duet in the vocals of Sukhwinder Singh and Vasundhara Das was electrifying. In the film the song was used for an important scene where two police officers are in a club searching for a dangerous criminal. However when the film was being promoted before its release a separate video was made for the song which featured Tandon.

Even after 23 years the song is considerably popular and enjoyed for its fast paced beats and powerful vocals.

The team at BizAsiaLive.com wishes Raveena Tandon a happy 50th birthday!
