Swati Shetty set to take ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ sequel forward

After months of speculation, it has been confirmed that a sequel to ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ is officially in the works.

Los Angeles-based production company Bridge7 has acquired the rights to develop a sequel and TV adaptations of the 2008 Oscar-winning film, which was originally directed by Danny Boyle.

The newly formed studio, headed by producer Swati Shetty and veteran CAA agent Grant Kessman, secured the rights from UK-based Celador, the original production studio behind the film, along with Film4.

In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Shetty and Kessman said, “Some stories linger with us long after the credits roll, and ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ is undoubtedly one of them. Its narrative transcends cultural and geographical boundaries, embodying the kind of tales we cherish — ones that merge entertainment with deeply human experiences.”
